Triad, WL-S earn victories in boys hoops

Colby Watson made a layup with less than two seconds remaining to push Triad to a 65-64 win over Fairlawn in non-league boys basketball Saturday.

Watson finished with 12 points for Triad, which overcame a 19-point deficit late in the third quarter to win.

Ryan Boyd had 31 points and Hadley LeVan scored 17 for the Cardinals.

Tigers win over Stebbins

West Liberty-Salem defeated Stebbins 67-61 in non-league boys basketball.

“Obviously we are happy with the win, but more importantly, every guy came up big at some point in the game,” WL-S Coach Darrin Leichty said.

Dillon Callicoat had 16 points to lead the Tigers. James Loffing had 12 points and Ross Kelley scored 11. Austin Miller scored 9 points to go along with 17 rebounds and 7 assists.

In the junior varsity game, Stebbins won 55-52. Max Eggleston scored 20 points and Trevor Burden scored 15 for the Tigers.

Ponitz drops Graham

Ponitz defeated Graham, 84-59, in non-league boys basketball on Saturday.

Graham led 21-19 after a quarter and trailed 37-35 at the half before falling off in the second half.

The Falcons were out-scored 24-7 in the fourth quarter.
