WL-S knocks off Triad; Urbana falls

WEST LIBERTY – The Tigers dominated from the start in a 52-14 victory over Triad Friday night in OHC football.

Braden Miller scored on a 2-yard run early in the first quarter to give WL-S a 7-0 lead, and Levi Moell added a 44-yard scoring run moments later to make it 14-0.

Triad (1-7, 1-4) rallied after a long screen pass to Jacob Simonelli, and Riley Louck later carried it in from a yard out to make it 14-7.

With 1:07 remaining in the first quarter, the Tigers (4-4, 3-2) took a 21-7 lead on a 4-yard TD pass from Luke Woods to Jerritt Smith.

Early in the second quarter, Miller scored on a one-yard run to make it 28-7, and Miller later caught an eight-yard TD pass from Woods to put the home team on top, 35-7.

WL-S kicker Ethan Cole booted a 27-yard field goal with 4:21 remaining in the second quarter to give the Tigers a 38-7 lead at the half.

WL-S had 311 total yards in the first half compared to 88 for Triad.

Woods scored on a 30-yard run early in the third quarter as the Tigers took a 45-7 lead, and Miller added a 70-yard TD run later in the third period to make it 52-7 heading into the final stanza.

Triad’s Dylan Rice scored from nine yards out late in the fourth quarter to make it 52-14.

Brandon Wolfe led the Tigers with 183 yards rushing on 11 carries.

Next Friday night, WL-S plays at Southeastern and Triad hosts Springfield Catholic Central.

Tecumseh 28, Urbana 7

NEW CARLISLE – Tecumseh knocked off Urbana, 28-7, in CBC/KTD football Friday night.

The Hillclimbers scored on their opening possession of the game as Isaiah Fonseca found the end zone from two yards out.

Later in the first quarter, Tecumseh scored on a pass to make it 7-7.

With four minutes remaining in the second quarter, the Arrows went up 14-7 thanks to a rushing touchdown.

Tecumseh (4-4, 1-1) increased its lead to 21-7 with seven minutes remaining in the third period on a rushing TD.

The Arrows added a defensive touchdown early in the fourth quarter to make it 28-7.

Urbana (1-7, 0-3) plays at Shawnee next Friday night.

Ben Logan 54, Graham 13

BELLEFONTAINE – Unbeaten Ben Logan used a 33-point first quarter to knock off Graham, 54-13, Friday night in CBC/MRD football.

The Raiders led, 40-7, at the half.

The Falcons (1-7, 1-2) host Northwestern next Friday night.

West Liberty-Salem’s Chase Humphrey (34) helped lead the Tigers over visiting Triad on Friday.
