Urbana defeats Indian Lake

Urbana beat Indian Lake, 25-17, 25-11, 25-17, in CBC volleyball on Tuesday.

For UHS (14-7), Hunter Rogan had 18 kills and 8 digs, Mackenzie Bean had 6 kills, Bridget Ofori had 5 kills and 3 aces, Megan Ridder had 5 kills, Taylor Adams had 26 assists and 18 digs and Olivia Dunham had 13 digs.

Indian Lake’s jayvees won, 25-19, 17-25, 25-21. For UHS, Sam Zaborowski had 5 kills, 4 digs and 3 aces, Jennah Adams had 14 digs, Maddy Johnson had 5 kills, Tiana Johnson had 14 assists and 5 digs and Destiny Manuel had 3 aces and 6 digs.

Graham prevails

Graham beat Northwestern, 25-16, 25-9, 25-18, in CBC volleyball on Tuesday.

For Graham (15-6), Kaitlin Trace had 18 kills, 4 blocks and 2 aces., Molly Hamilton had 31 assists and Katie Milligan had 9 kills and 1 ace.

Indians still rated third

Mechanicsburg (7-0) remains third in Division VI, Region 24 in the latest computer football playoff poll.

The top eight teams in each region advance to the playoffs and the top four will host a first-round game.

Hillclimbers tie Chieftains

Urbana played to a scoreless draw with Bellefountaine in CBC girls soccer.

Magdaline Perry had 2 saves in goal for UHS.

The jayvees tied as well, 1-1.

Urbana finishes the regular season 7-8-1 overall and will play at Graham in the first round of the sectional on Tuesday, October 18.

Indians tie Cougars

Mechanicsburg played to a scoreless draw with Kenton Ridge in girls soccer.

Junior captain Tori Jacobs had 3 shots, Ellie Blanton had one shot, Kasey Schipfer had 4 shots and Morgan Hamby had 10 saves for the Indians.

Jayvee soccer

The West Liberty-Salem boys jayvee soccer team was defeated at Miami East, 2-1. Jared Bowden scored off a Levi Chapman assist for the Tigers’ goal. Zach McCall had 8 saves and Gavin Harrison had 3 saves.

JH football

Urbana lost to Indian Lake, 32-6. Jordan Dobie returned an interception for a touchdown for UJHS.

WL-S senior night

The West Liberty-Salem Athletic Department will be honoring all fall sport seniors and band members prior to this Friday night’s football game with Triad. The recognition ceremony will start at 6:15 p.m. at the stadium.

Senior Karsen Voorhees serves the first point of Tuesday’s Senior Night match versus Indian Lake. Voorhees had missed the entire season with a severe knee injury suffered on the first day of tryouts. She served and then stepped off to the side to avoid the action, but Urbana won the point anyway. Indian Lake won the second point to break her serve and she was taken out of the match.
