WL-S girls down M’burg, 6-0

WL-S defeated Mechanicsburg, 6-0, in OHC girls soccer.

Scoring goals for the Tigers (11-2, 4-1) were Gabby Hollar (2), Dierdre McGill (2), Lily Yoder and Sierra McCall.

Lily Yoder, Kaitlyn Michael and Madison Bender each had an assist.

Paige Shafer had 2 saves in goal and Rachel McGill had 1.

WL-S’s jayvees beat Jonathan Alder, 2-0.

UHS girls lose

The Urbana girls soccer team lost to undefeated Shawnee, 3-1, on senior night.

“We are very proud of our seniors and entire team for playing their hearts out,” said UHS Coach Brandon Deskins. “Five yellow cards and two red cards issued, all to Shawnee. Proud of our players for playing hard and keeping their composure throughout.”

Taje Mack scored the lone goal in the first half from a throw in by Kinleigh White.

UHS (6-8) plays at Northeastern on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Graham volleyball wins

Graham defeated Shawnee, 26-24, 25-22, 17-25, 25-13, in CBC volleyball on Tuesday.

For the Falcons, Katie Milligan had 13 kills and Kaitlin Trace had 14 kills. Claire Comer added 20 digs.

The Falcons are now 12-6 overall and 7-3 in the CBC.

WL-S finally plays at home

WL-S’s new gym will be the site of a Tiger volleyball match tonight. All WL-S students will get in free.

Jayvee soccer

West Liberty-Salem defeated Fairbanks, 3-1, in jayvee boys soccer.

Blake Kaminski scored 2 goals and Levi Chapman scored the other. Kaminski and Jared Bowden each had an assist, while Zach McCall had 7 saves.

JH volleyball

West Liberty-Salem 8th grade volleyball defeated visiting Springfield Catholic Central 17-25, 25-22, 25-14. For the Tigers, Olivia Muirhead led the offense with 10 aces and Madeline Hutton added 5 aces. Selena Weaver had 6 kills and Muirhead had 5 kills. Muirhead and Hutton had 5 assists each and Emily Scott had 3 digs.

WL-S 7th grade defeated Springfield Catholic Central 25-15, 21-25, 25-22. For the Tigers, Michele Smith led the offense with 10 aces.

JH football

Shawnee beat Urbana, 50-20. For UJHS, Trey Williams scored 2 rushing touchdowns and Kenal Dobie scored on a receiving touchdown.
