WL-S knocks off Anna, 2-0

WL-S defeated Anna, 2-0, in non-league girls soccer on Monday.

Gabby Hollar scored both goals for the Tigers and Ashley Rabenstein and Taylor Lauck each had an assist.

Paige Shafer had six saves in goal.

WL-S (10-2) hosts Mechanicsburg on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

WL-S volleyball loses

WL-S lost to Fairbanks, 25-8, 25-16, 25-21, in non-league volleyball on Monday.

Tory Cordell led the Tigers with 7 kills, 2 blocks, 2 digs and 5/5 serving, Regan Hormann had 4 kills and 2 digs, Alex Burton had 3 kills and 7 digs, Hallie Strapp had 3 kills, 9 digs and 5/5 serving, Breann Koons was 38/38 setting with 12 assists and 8 digs, Allie Yoder was 44/44 setting with 6 assists and Olivia Ames had 15 digs and 9/10 serving with 2 aces.

The Tiger jayvees lost, 25-14, 25-9.

For WL-S, Jaelen Meeker had 7 assists and perfect serving, Cukki Kabua had 7 digs and Lexi Mullen had 6 kills.

WL-S lost to Urbana and Jackson Center on Saturday. In the Urbana match, Cordell had 5 kills, Ames had 15 digs and Koons had 9 assists.

Buck Creek results

Triad competed at the Buck Creek Invitational on Saturday, with the girls finishing 9th.

For the girls, Holly Cole was 10th in 20:35 to lead the way. Alea Ferguson was 37th (22:29), Summer Doty 54th (23:02), Sandi Alspaugh 81st (23:26), Lyndsey Alspaugh 171st (29:06) and Karen Alspaugh 175th (29:42).

For the boys, Eli O’Brien was 54th (18:50) and Kaiden Forrer was 128th (20:25).

Urbana was also in the boys’ field, with Alec Freeman (19:06), Austin Rooney (20:02) and Ethan Burnside (21:38) each recording season bests. Noah Booze (21:48) and Anthony Cordle (25:10) each recorded personal bests.

JH volleyball

WL-S 8th grade volleyball was defeated by Fairbanks, 25-21, 25-11. For the Tigers, Emily Scott put up 6 aces, Selena Weaver had three kills and Olivia Muirhead had 3 assists.

The WL-S 7th graders lost, 25-14, 26-28, 25-13. For the Tigers, Michele Smith had three aces.

The Graham 8th graders beat Ben Logan, 25-8, 25-21 to end the regular season with a 10-5 record.

Graham’s 7th graders lost to Ben Logan to end the season with a 9-6 record.

JH cross country

The Urbana junior high girls finished second at Buck Creek on Saturday.

Erika Arnett (6th), Paige Deere (7th) and Bree Stouffer (11th) paced the team, while Kaleigh Bean and Makenna Redford also scored. Jenny Zaborowski set a new PR at 15:54.

The UJHS boys also ran, with Brayden Stouffer (49th), Justin Rutan (95th) and Camden Weiss (96th) competing.
