Local volleyball players earn District 9 honors

The All-District 9 volleyball teams were recently announced.

In Division II, Graham’s Lisa DeWeese was named Player of the Year. Teammate Carly Carafa was named to the First Team, as was Urbana’s Hunter Rogan.

The Second Team featured Urbana’s McKenzee Martin and Graham’s Molly Hamilton.

Lauryn Holcomb (GHS) and Olivia Dunham (UHS) earned honorable mention.

In Division III, West Liberty-Salem’s Jamie Peterson – who signed with the University of Dayton on Monday – was named Player of the Year.

The Tigers landed Kylie Gilroy on the Second Team and had Olivia Ames earn honorable mention.

In Division IV, Mechanicsburg’s Katie Bush landed on the Second Team.

Peterson and Gilroy will also be a part of the combined Division I, II and III Red Team during the District 9 Senior All-Star game. DeWeese, Holcomb and Martin will represent the opposing Blue Team in that match.

Bush will be on the Division IV Red Team.

All-Star awards will be presented at Troy High School on Wednesday beginning at 6:30 p.m. Matches will follow the ceremony.
