UU swim teams earn Scholar All-America status

For the third straight year, Urbana University’s Aerika Wieser has been named a Scholar All-American by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).

Wieser made it easy on the selection team by surpassing the minimum requirements of a 3.50 GPA with a perfect 4.0, along with recording a “B” standard time in the 50-yard freestyle.

Additionally, both UU swimming teams earned the prestigious recognition as CSCAA Scholar All-America teams.

The recognition comes as a result of each team’s classroom performance. To be selected, programs must have acheived a GPA of 3.00 or higher over the spring semester.

The Blue Knight men’s team tied for the eighth-highest team GPA in Division II at 3.33, while the Blue Knight women tied for 10th with a team GPA of 3.52.

CSCAA has designated 658 swimming and diving teams, representing 388 colleges and universities, as Scholar All-America teams.

It is only the second time in the program’s 30-plus year history to have more than 600 teams.
