WL-S, M’burg earn victories on the road

SPRINGFIELD – Brandon Upton passed for 293 yards and three touchdowns – all to Dusty Moell – as West Liberty-Salem rallied to beat winless Northeastern, 47-33, Friday night in the OHC.

After jumping out to an early 7-6 lead, the Tigers quickly fell behind.

Northeastern built up a 26-14 lead before WL-S rallied to grab a 27-26 edge early in the third quarter.

Northeastern responded by going ahead 33-27 moments later, but the Tigers exploded for 20 unanswered points down the stretch.

Moell had 10 receptions for 150 yards and Braden Miller added 118 yards rushing on 21 carries with three TDs.

The Tigers had 498 total yards compared to 351 for the Jets.

WL-S (3-1, 1-0) plays at Greeneview next Friday night.

Mechanicsburg 61, Cedarville 6

CEDARVILLE – The unbeaten Mechanicsburg Indians had little trouble knocking off the Indians from Cedarville, 61-6, Friday night in OHC action.

Mechanicsburg (4-0, 1-0) held a 40-0 lead at the half and went up, 54-6, in the third period.

Kaleb Romero completed all 13 of his passes – utilizing six different receivers – for 196 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 101 yards and two more scores on a mere five carries.

Mechanicsburg out-gained Cedarville, 352 yards to 72, in the first half.

Gavin Erwin added two TD runs for Mechanicsburg, which hosts Triad next Friday night.

Stebbins 57, Urbana 7

RIVERSIDE – A week after beating Bellefontaine in double-overtime, things didn’t go well for Urbana at unbeaten Stebbins Friday night in a 57-7 loss in CBC non-divisional action.

The Hillclimbers fell behind, 21-0, in the first quarter and trailed, 44-0, at the half.

UHS (1-3) hosts Tecumseh next Friday night.

Tecumseh 42, Graham 19

NEW CARLISLE – Tecumseh cruised to a 42-19 victory over Graham Friday night in CBC non-divisional action.

The Falcons (1-3) trailed, 21-0, at the end of the first quarter and 35-6 at the intermission.

Graham out-scored the Arrows, 13-7, in the second half.

The Falcons host Stebbins next Friday night.
