Pigskin Picks

The cool weather this week can mean only one thing … football season is just around the corner.

Tonight, the prep football season begins, so we’re back to work trying to figure out who the heck is going to win.

Without further adieu, let’s get to it.

Tonight’s Games

London at Urbana – The Hillclimbers have a new head coach in Jon Daniels and a new starting quarterback in Levi Boettcher, so we’re not quite sure what to expect.

We do expect that London probably won’t be a great team, so we’re picking Urbana to win.

West Jefferson at Mechanicsburg – Led by standout quarterback Kaleb Romero, the Indians should be very good again this season, and they will revenge on their minds against West Jeff.

In other words, we’re going with Mechanicsburg to prevail.

Valley View at WL-S – The Tigers also have a standout, experienced quarterback in Brandon Upton, so we know WL-S is going to be strong again this season.

Valley View is usually a quality team, so this could be a good matchup.

We’re picking WL-S to win, but it could be close.

Triad at Indian Lake – The Cardinals are another team with a standout quarterback returning in Trent McIntyre.

Triad has some skill players back, but had to rebuild its entire offensive and defensive lines.

This game could be very close, but we’re going with Triad to prevail in a thriller.

Graham at Tipp – New Graham Coach A.J. Woods is enthusiastic and could have success down the road with the Falcons.

The road tonight, however, is probably a little too harrowing.

We’re picking Tipp to win.
