Mechanicsburg girls fall to BL in soccer

Benjamin Logan defeated Mechanicsburg, 2-1, in non-league girls soccer on Thursday.

Tori Jacobs scored a goal for Mechanicsburg.

WL-S boys win

West Liberty-Salem boys defeated Botkins, 3-1. The Tigers led 2-1 at the half. Neil Markin scored from a Raiph Levan assist for the first goal. Sixteen seconds later, Cole McDaniel scored unassisted. McDaniel added his second goal and the third for the team with a penalty kick in the second half.

Elias Kirker-Napiorkowski recorded 6 saves in goal. The Tigers’ record is now 3-1 and they play at home on Sept. 1 against Northeastern at 7:15 p.m.

Urbana tops Catholic Central volleyball

Urbana defeated Catholic Central, 25-22, 25-23, 23-25, 25-22, in non-league volleyball on Thursday.

Mckenzee Martin had 16 kills, 3 aces and 4 blocks for the Hillclimbers. Hunter Rogan had 19 kills, Kaelyn Bertsch had 13 kills and Katy Curnutte had 20 digs. Olivia Dunham had 27 assists and Macy Pierce recorded 25 assists.

The Urbana junior varsity won, 25-23, 25-9.

Lexi Thomas had 7 digs and Megan Ridder had 5 kills.

Urbana (3-0) hosts Graham on Tuesday.

Urbana wins in boys golf

SPRINGFIELD – Urbana defeated Greenon, 182-186, in CBC boys golf.

Josh Blakely shot a career-low 40 followed by Greg Coffey with a 44, Sklyer Reisinger with a 49 and Taylor Armstrong with a 49.

Junior high volleyball

The WL-S 7th graders beat Northeastern, 25-16, 26-24. Kayleigh Wilcox had 6 aces, Selena Weaver had 5 serve receives and Maddie Hutton had two kills for WL-S.

The 8th graders beat Northeastern, 28-26, 25-11. Ryleigh Johns had 6 aces and Alex Burton and Sydnee Payer both had 4 kills for WL-S.

The Tigers host Cedarville on Monday.
