Lewis to be hired as AD at Graham High School

ST. PARIS – Graham High School graduate and long-time Wittenberg University baseball coach Jay Lewis is expected to be named athletic director at Graham High School during Monday night’s school board meeting.

If approved by the school board, Lewis will begin his stint as athletic director on Aug. 1.

Lewis is the winningest baseball coach in Wittenberg history.

CBC track results

The Central Buckeye Conference track and field championships concluded on Thursday.

On the boys’ side, Graham was 10th in the 12-team field and Urbana was 11th. Gage Thomas finished second in the high jump for Graham.

On the girls’ side, Graham was 9th and Urbana was tied for 11th.

Ashton Arnett was second in the pole vault for Graham and Aubry Gale was third. Natalie Seeberg nabbed third in the discus for Urbana.

8-u softball

Moose beat La Palma, 7-4. Corrynn Ryan, Mallory Stokes and Morgan Boyd were standouts for Moose. Lanie Dingledine and Zoe Carter starred for La Palma.

13-u softball

Custom Sportswear beat Moose, 11-2. Kacie Martin, Jenny Zaborowski and Hannah Jordan stood out.

Foss Memorial Tournament

The sixth annual Nickolas Foss Memorial golf scramble will take place at Woodland Golf Course on Saturday, May 21. The tournament still has three four-person team slots available. The cost is $50/player or $200/team and includes skill challenges, 50/50 and more. A skins game is available, with shotgun start at 1:30 p.m.

The tournament provides scholarships to local students majoring in nursing or the medical field. This year’s six scholarships increase the total scholarships provided to 25. This year’s awards are spread throughout students at Urbana, Mechanicsburg, Northeastern and Kenton Ridge.
