BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. – Urbana University softball players Courtney Stewart and Learic Kinser were voted to the All-MEC Second Team by the league’s coaches, as announced Thursday afternoon.

Stewart, a junior from Zanesfield, Ohio, was selected as one of two utility players to the second team. She led the Blue Knights and tied for seventh in the MEC with a .385 batting average, while recording the fifth-most hits in single-season team history with 55. She closed out the season on a 10-game hitting streak and posted a season-high four hits against Lake Superior State.

In 143 at-bats this spring, Stewart registered one home run, five doubles, 13 stolen bases and 22 runs scored from the leadoff spot. She played primarily second base and made the team’s second-most appearances inside the circle with 31.

Kinser, a freshman from Springfield, Ohio, was voted all-conference second team at third base after helping the team by transitioning from the outfield. A constant threat on the basepaths, Kinser collected the second-most stolen bases in single-season team history after going 19-for-20 on steal attempts.

As the two-hole hitter, Kinser finished second on the team behind Stewart with a .364 average in her first collegiate season. Kinser led the Blue Knights in multi-hit games (18), slugging (.464), triples (4), stolen bases (19) and total bases (65). One of her best performances came in just her second game against Kentucky Wesleyan, where she went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and two RBI.
