County track meet at Urbana

Full results for the Champaign County track and field championships held at Urbana were not available at press time Tuesday night, but WL-S Coach Joe Taylor reported that senior standout Joey Adams won both the 1,600 and 3,200 runs.

Also for the Tigers, Nick Williams was second in the 3,200, Brandon Wolfe was fourth in the long jump and third in the 200, the 4×800 team was second and the 4×100 team was third.

The WL-S boys compete at New Bremen on Friday.

Graham baseball wins

Graham defeated Benjamin Logan, 3-0, in CBC/MRD baseball on Tuesday.

For GHS, Josh Lewis recorded 2 hits, while Allen St. Myers and Logan Black each had an RBI.

Graham (6-13) plays at Shawnee on Thursday.

Falcons softball loses

Benjamin Logan defeated Graham, 3-2, in CBC/MRD softball on Tuesday.

For GHS, Madison Bryant was 2 for 4 with a double, Melany Robbins was 2 for 4 with a home run, Marley Brandyberry was 2 for 3 and Morgan Rush was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI.

The Falcons out-hit Ben Logan 11-4, but errors in the field cost Graham the game.

Graham (12-4, 10-2 CBC) plays at Shawnee on Thursday.

Hillclimbers fall

Northwestern defeated Urbana, 5-3, in CBC/MRD softball Monday evening. The visitors scored three runs in the top of the 7th inning when Urbana committed four errors. The ‘Climbers had 9 errors for the game.

“Boy did we let one get away,” UHS Coach Aaron Pittsenbarger said.

For Urbana, Katy Curnutte was 2 for 4 with a home run and 2 RBI, Sidney Easter was 2 for 4 with an RBI, Emma Burnside was 2 for 4 and Hannah Alvoid was 2 for 3.

WL-S jayvees lose

The West Liberty-Salem jayvee softball team lost to Greeneview, 13-12. Maddie Estes recorded the loss. Macy Murphy, Tory Cordell and Laura Neer (double and 3 run homer) each had 3 hits. Olivia Milliron added 2 hits.
