Urbana’s boys tennis team is entering its second season under Coach Brett Stewart, with a ton of returning talent and a new-found attitude toward winning.

“You can tell they’re a lot more confident and they’re a lot more comfortable with me,” Stewart said. “We’re hoping for a good run this year.”

The Hillclimbers will boast a returning group that features seniors Mklaine Eggleston, Langston Kitchen, Nicholas Shank and Greg Coffey. Junior Andrew Fansler returns, as does sophomore Bailey Ullah. Senior Wes Brown will join the fray as a newcomer.

“It’s nice to have all the returners,” Stewart said. “I think this year we’ll be deeper.”

Urbana finished last season tied for second place in the Central Buckeye Conference.

With all those players coming back, the squad could be poised to make a run at the title.

Urbana’s quest for the CBC title opens when the team travels to Shawnee on March 29.
