The Small Steps 5K to benefit Devon Allen and his family will be held April 17 at 3 p.m. The race will begin and end at GYAA Park, 316 Huffman Dr., St. Paris.

Allen, a graduate of Graham High School and a 1,000-point scorer for the basketball team, was injured in an assault in Bowling Green, where he attends college.

Allen suffered severe head trauma and remained in an induced coma for several days following the incident and surgery.

Devon has been recovering with the help of physical, occupational and speech therapy. According to smallsteps5k.com, all proceeds from the sponsors and participation of the event will be used to pay Allen’s medical expenses.
