I am writing in support of the Champaign County Historical Society levy. Currently the operation of the CCHS must rely on volunteer help. Consequently, it is only able to be open to the public a very few hours per week, thus relegating it as one of Champaign County’s most valuable, yet least known treasures. As a former UHS history teacher that taught for many years just around the block from the museum I can attest that the contact between students and the CCHS was sorely restricted by its limited hours of operation.
Passage of this 0.3 mill levy on November 7 would provide funds for more hours of operation, a paid professional curator, and more integration of programs between the county schools and the CCHS.
Please join me in voting “yes” for the Champaign County Historical Society levy.
