This past Wednesday and Thursday were excellent days for Urbana. Candidates for the Urbana City School Board were permitted to express their views, citizens had the opportunity to listen and ask questions, and we all benefit when a free flow of ideas are expressed in our open Republic. Thanks must be extended to Urbana University for providing the venue and working in conjunction with the Urbana Daily Citizen for Wednesday’s forum. In addition the Urbana Association of Classroom Teachers must also be applauded for holding a second candidate forum, this at the Champaign County Library on Thursday. This is for the benefit of all. An informed and engaged public is integral to our country’s elections.
