Historical Society needs levy

0

The Champaign County Historical Society has been quietly carrying on a labor of love for over 80 years. Volunteers dedicated to preserving the history of their county have been working in the Museum on East Lawn. The artifacts there seem to tell stories, the photographs invite conversation, and the documents answer questions. Programs once a month on Sunday afternoons, and Museum hours limited to two days a week hardly do justice to the wealth of material. We need to be open daily. We need interpreters going to the schools. We need to better preserve the collections for future generations. We need professionally trained administrators to guide the work. We need the voters of Champaign to approve the levy providing support for the maintenance and operation of their Historical Society and Museum.
