LONDON – Travis Hall of Mechanicsburg has been commended by Gov. John Kasich and Gary Mohr, director of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, for preventing an inmate escape attempt at the London Correctional Institution on Oct. 28, 2015.

A news release states that at approximately 7:38 a.m. that day, Hall confronted an inmate apparently testing the security response during a heavy rain. The inmate was close to the perimeter fence. Hall had him escorted to the Captain’s Office. Examination of camera footage showed the inmate had been hiding on the back dock area.

Hall received a Gold Star award for his actions.

“Mr. Hall’s quick response to this incident very likely prevented an escape attempt,” the release states. “Mr. Hall exhibits true professionalism on a daily basis and is a great asset to the Ohio Department of Corrections.”
