Painting happiness in a pandemic

0

Local residents are finding ways to help others during the pandemic.

Social distancing and other protective measures are making it difficult for nursing home residents to stay connected to their loved ones.

A group from Only Believe Ministries in Urbana made the most of the sunshine to paint cheerful flowers on the outside of residents’ windows at Urbana Health & Rehab.

The Son-Shine ministry (nursing home ministry) at Only Believe regularly visits the residents at Urbana Health & Rehab. They haven’t been able to do their regular visits for eight weeks or so due to quarantine. The ministry members created greeting cards, but were unable to give them to the residents due to the possibility of contamination.

Instead, they secured permission from the nursing facility’s staff to paint the residents’ windows to let them know they are loved and ministry members are still praying for them and thinking about them.
