The state’s largest organization representing long-term care facilities honored Mary Martin, a long-term nursing assistant at Vancrest of Urbana, as its June “Hero of Long-Term Care.” The Ohio Health Care Association honors one long-term care employee each month for service to long-term caregivers, residents and the community.

A Nursing Assistant and State Tested Nurse Aide (STNA), Martin has worked at Vancrest for 16 years. She is featured on the OHCA website (www.ohca.org) this month and will be recognized at the association’s 2020 Annual Convention in Columbus.

“Mary’s long and exemplary career in health care, all at one facility, demonstrates her dedication, determination, caring spirit and drive to build relationships and provide the best care possible,” said Wendy Rollins, Vancrest’s director of nursing. “While providing care, Mary is also training the next generation of caregivers and mentoring them through life lessons so they may learn and benefit from her own life experiences.” She said Martin’s most important contribution has been her ability to inspire and nurture past, present and future generations.
