Due to this week’s ice storm, the city of Urbana’s Compost Facility, located at 1261 Muzzy Road (west of Edgewood), will accept all yard damage free of charge to city residents. Compost hours of operation are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays; 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays; closed Sundays and holidays. The facility will be closed Nov. 22 and 23, but will be open Nov. 24.

The city Street Department will pick up limbs and branches placed at the curb for those who cannot transport their damage to the Compost Facility. Residents are asked not to place storm damage on top of leaf piles; woody debris must be bundled and cut to no longer than 4-foot sections. Residents also are asked to be patient, as the Street Department will pick up the damage as quickly as possible.
