PAWS Animal Shelter (cat)

Meet Peaches, a 6-year-old domestic short-hair orange cat that came has been at the shelter for three years. During her time with us she was adopted once and brought back because she didn’t get along with the family dog. She gets along with most all of the cats. Peaches is a bit overweight and will need to be with someone who will continue her exercise regimen. She is a bit sassy so we recommend a home without small children. She is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. Come by and meet Peaches today!

PAWS is located at 1535 W. U.S. Route 36, just west of Urbana. Contact PAWS at 937-653-6233 or [email protected] for information about volunteer opportunities and donation needs. Hours are Tuesday thru Friday noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday noon to 4 p.m. All PAWS cats and kittens may be found on Petfinder.com.

Champaign County Animal Welfare League (dog)

The Champaign County Animal Welfare League (CCAWL) pet of the week is Asphalt, an 8-month-old Boxer mix rescued from a puppy mill. Asphalt is social and has a lot of puppy energy. Because he came from a puppy mill, he is not house-trained, but we feel this can be accomplished with a patient owner. He does well with other dogs, but hasn’t been cat-tested at this time. Asphalt is spunky, playful and would love a hiking buddy or a boy or girl to call his own. He has been neutered, microchipped and is current on all vaccinations: Bivalent Flu, Bordetella, Da2PPL, and Rabies. Asphalt has been dewormed and heartworm tested negative. He is current on flea and heartworm prevention. If you are thinking Asphalt would be a great fit for your family and would like to give him his first forever home, please fill out an application form.

To offset the expenses of our low-cost, spay and neuter clinic, we are increasing our adoption fee by $15. All adoptable puppies/dogs will be available for $165.00 regardless of breed. Lower rates apply for Senior Dogs. This fee covers spay/neuter, Da2PPL, Bivalent Flu, Bordetella, Rabies (age appropriate), Worming, Heart Worm Test, Flea and Heart Worm Prevention and Microchip. As always, all animals receive a dental cleaning and polish with any necessary extractions. All CCAWL residents are also groomed. We accept cash, credit or debit only.

Adoption applications are required and must be approved. You may find the application on our webpage – www.champaigncoanimalwelfareleague.com – or stop by our facility, 3858 state Route 56, Mechanicsburg, OH 43044. Fall-winter hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays; closed Sundays and Mondays; 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesdays; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesdays; and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays. For more information, please call 937-834-5236. Memberships are available that will allow you to have access to our 72-acre campus. You’ll be able to use the agility course, indoor/outdoor dog park, grooming facility and trails. An individual membership is $100 for the year and a family membership is $150 a year.
