The Backyard Belles and Boys 4-H Club held its second meeting on Sunday, March 25, at the home of Oliver, Avery and Essie McGuire. Oliver McGuire called the meeting to order. Isaac Blackford led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Grady Underwood led the club in the 4-H Pledge. Paige Chesser gave the secretary’s report and roll call was taken by answering with one’s favorite color. The treasurer’s report was given by Avery McGuire. In new business, the club discussed booth decorating ideas to go along with the theme, “Chill Out With 4-H.” We also discussed Quality Assurance, and performance pig weigh in date and time. Our next meeting will be held at the home of Zoie and Grady Underwood on Sunday, April 22nd at noon. Everyone is asked to bring a side dish or dessert for a pot luck. The meeting was adjourned by Sarah Lewis, and seconded by Essie McGuire. The club then played, “Parliament Procedure Jeopardy,” while the clover-bud members completed an activity.

At the March 3 meeting of the Pens, Pans, and Needles 4-H Club, officers were elected. They are as follows: President – J.P. Kent, Vice President – Kaylee Warfield, Secretary – Hannah Dingledine, Treasurer – Jennifer Wallace, Social Media Officers – Brooke/Kate Moore, News Reporter – Libby Scheiderer, Recreation – Megan Nolan, Community Service Officer – Lilly Marsh, Safety Officers – Sydney Waldnig/Timmy Nolan, Health Officers – Charlie Hawk/Caroline Nott, Nutrition – Cambryn Tom/Gwen Westfall, Environmental Officers – Sammy/Libby Dean, Historians – Cori Kent/Jenson Patterson. The club discussed possible community service projects and came up with the following ideas – Nursing Home, Humane Society, Barely Used Pets, Church, 2nd Harvest Food Bank and the Warehouse in Urbana. They also came up with some club field trips such as- The Zoo, Anthony Thomas, Young’s Dairy, COSI, Police/Fire Station and Self Defense classes. Amy Dingledine brought up the topic of livestock quality assurance. The rabbit QA will be March 24th at the fairgrounds. The goat QA will be April 7th also at the fairgrounds.
