UU collects for Puerto Rico

Urbana University, a branch campus of Franklin University, announced it will help coordinate the collection of items to help people impacted by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.

The collection effort is the idea of Julio Rodriguez, an Urbana University MBA with an Emphasis in Healthcare student, whose family lives in Puerto Rico. To help expand the effort, it will be coordinated in cooperation with the Urbana University Student Athletic Advisory Committee and the Alicia Titus Memorial Peace Fund.

The campus will accept necessities such as clothing, toiletries, non-perishable food, and water in the Student Center 9 a.m.-4 p.m. between Monday, Oct. 16, and Friday, Oct. 20.

All donated items will be taken to the local Red Cross to coordinate shipping to those in need in Puerto Rico.

The Urbana University Student Center will become a donation hub next week.
