M’burg teen earns Commended Student status

SPRINGFIELD – Mechanicsburg resident Mitchell Toth has been named a Commended Student in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program. A senior at Emmanuel Christian Academy in Springfield, he is the son of Neil and Suzanne Toth.

Winner of American Math Competition 12 for Clark County last year, Toth is the senior class treasurer and a member of National Honor Society and the Track and Field Team. He has competed in two Cubing USA National Rubik’s Cube Competitions and is pursuing options for college in the field of cyber security.

He was to receive a Letter of Commendation from the school and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program.

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2018 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2018 competition by taking the 2016 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
