Dick Virts tries out the new elevator at the Champaign County Historical Society museum, 809 East Lawn Ave. The elevator was obtained through a Community Development Block Grant. Virts said the Champaign County commissioners along with Dave Gulden of the Logan-Union-Champaign Regional Planning Commission were instrumental in obtaining the grant. The CCHS will host Oktoberfest at the museum 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1. The festival is the key fundraiser for the historical society.
