Champaign YMCA launches annual campaign

The Champaign Family YMCA has launched its annual campaign to raise funds for local programs and resources that support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

“The Champaign Family YMCA continues to provide unequaled benefits to our community,” said YMCA Board President Tim Kemper. “Through daycare, youth sports and programming, to healthier living for seniors, we strive to provide a friendly atmosphere enjoyed by all our members. As a non-profit organization, the Y relies on the generosity of our community to allow us to continue to serve our members without prejudice.”

This year, the YMCA plans to raise at least $50,000 to help support health and fitness programming, water safety initiatives, child daycare and summer camp, and membership scholarships.

Last year, charitable gifts from Champaign Family YMCA supporters enabled the Y to distribute financial assistance to more than 500 youths and adults; teach more than 200 kids how to swim; and help care for more than 300 children each day in Champaign County’s largest childcare program.

The Y’s Annual Campaign will conclude on Friday, Oct. 13. To learn how to support the Y’s cause, contact YMCA CEO Paul Waldsmith at 937-653-9622 or visit www.champaignfamilyymca.org.
