Champaign County Animal Welfare League (cat)

Champaign County Animal Welfare League (CCAWL) invites you to see our little brother and sister duo, Think, a little boy, and Tink, a little girl. These two little litter-mates are a circus all by themselves and are very playful. They are 9 weeks old and weigh 2.5 pounds. Both of them are fully vetted, which includes a double booster for distemper, worming, flea prevention, and both are FeLV/FIV negative as well as micro-chipped. Think and Tink can be adopted separately but you might consider adopting both. A pair of kittens will want to interact with you, but they can occupy each other while you are carrying on daily activities.

You are invited to visit Think and Tink or any of our available kittens. We are open every day except Tuesday and Sunday and are also closed the first Saturday of the month for training. CCAWL is located at 3858 State Route 56, Mechanicsburg, OH, and our phone number is 937-834-5236. Our adoption fee for kittens is $50 cash or check.

We appreciate your donations of Purina Kitten Chow, Purina Cat Chow, paper towels, scoopable litter, Clorox wipes and kitten/cat toys. Also, please come by and pick up a volunteer application if you would enjoy being a part of this caring enterprise. We are looking forward to meeting animal-loving people who like to make a difference in the lives of dogs and cats. Soon we will be moving into our new facility so look forward to our announcement regarding our grand opening.

The David Robert Wetzell Memorial Clinic, located on site at the Champaign County Animal Welfare League, is now offering three additional days for low-cost sterilizations along with several other services provided at time of surgery. We charge $40 for a cat spay and $25 for a cat neuter. Dog spays, depending on the size, start at $60 and graduates up to $100 and increases $1.00 per pound over 100 pounds. Dog neuters start at $50 to $90 depending on the size and $1.00 per pound is charged over 100 pounds as well. We offer a variety of services that can be provided only with a spay or neuter procedure. For more information and details, please call the Champaign County Animal Welfare League at 937-834-5236. Our facility and low cost clinic are located on site at 3858 State Route 56, Mechanicsburg, Ohio. We are also continuing our support to help control the over-population of cats by offering a discount price of $30 for either a spay/neuter of all feral, stray and outside cats. All cats will have their left ear tipped and must come in a live trap, which can be borrowed from us. There are discounts for large colonies needing sterilized. Please call us for details.

Champaign County Animal Welfare League (dog)

Champaign County Animal Welfare League’s pet of the week is our handsome Happy, a one-year old American Pit Bull mix. He came to us from the Clark County Humane Society, which recently closed. Happy is just like his name indicates, a happy, loving boy who needs a family. Happy is still a puppy, so he needs some consistent training and discipline. Because of that, we wouldn’t recommend that he be let loose on a farm but be in a home with an attentive family that would provide interesting activities with him such as taking him to the dog park. Happy requires moderate, daily exercise to keep his body fit and his heart and brain fully satisfied. This is not a dog to leave in your back yard with nothing to do. When we cat-tested Happy, he was curious about the cat, but quickly retreated when the cat approached him. Happy has a gentle heart with our staff and strangers alike. He enjoys playing with our dogs, however, we would not recommend he be teamed up with an unneutered male dog. He can be crated, but doing so stresses him somewhat so that he drools excessively. He is tan in color and weighs just under 51 pounds. He has been fully vetted including neutering, heart worm testing, and fully vaccinated including rabies, worming, and treated with heart worm and flea prevention. We are also vaccinating all of our dogs with the H3N2 Flu Vaccine to combat the dog flu that has entered the area. He has been micro-chipped and comes with his 2017 dog license.

An application is required in order to adopt and this can be found online or in house. Our adoption fee is $150 cash or check. We appreciate your donations of paper towels, leashes, harnesses and collars.

PAWS Animal Shelter (cat)

Kettle is definitely a sweetheart. She would be the purr-fect pet! Give her a chance and she will easily win your heart. Kettle is an attractive, tortoiseshell-colored cat with adorable markings. She was rescued after being abandoned. Kettle was nervous when she first came to the shelter. Now she has blossomed into the most loving and affectionate kitty ever! All she needed was attention and a little bit of time to come out of her shell. Kettle likes to be held and will give you kisses. She would like to come home with you and be your forever friend. Kettle likes to sit on your lap or just hang out with you. She has a great purr and enjoys playing with toys. She is up to date on her shots and spayed. She has been wormed and she tested negative for feline leukemia. She is litter box trained. Kettle is ready for her forever family.

Stop by Paws Animal Shelter at 1535 W. U.S. Route 36, Urbana, Ohio 43078, or call Paws at 937-653-6233. The Shelter hours are Tuesday-Friday 12-5 p.m., Saturday 12-4 p.m., Sunday and Monday-closed. You can email us at [email protected]. Visit us at www.facebook.com/paws.urbana. There are many wonderful cats, adorable kittens and fun-loving dogs at the shelter waiting for good homes. Paws Animal Shelter needs donations of Purina Kitten Chow, Purina Complete Cat Chow, Purina Dog Chow and Purina Puppy Chow. We also could use donations of bleach, laundry detergent and clumping cat litter. We are a nonprofit organization that operates only by donations. We do not receive any city, county or state funding. Please consider helping.

OK, so I bark a little in my kennel when you humans walk in. Can’t you understand that I’m talking to you? I’m trying to tell you to get me out of here and take me for a walk. Geez. I’m such a misunderstood guy!

I am such a love bug out of my kennel and if you knew what I’d been through in my short life you’d be surprised that I could trust anyone.

I’m Sawyer and I’m waiting here at PAWS for my hero and best friend. Could that be you? Please come and meet me – outside my kennel.

Barely Used Pets

My name is Deno and I am an 8-month-old Hound Mix boy. I am already neutered and up to date on shots. I get along with other dogs, especially the girl dogs. I am also great around kids, but they say not to trust me around cats. My person had to bring me to Barely Used Pets because I was too active of a puppy for the apartment they lived in. Won’t you please come and see me and we can run around in the playground? It will be lots of fun and maybe, just maybe you will want me to be part of your family. I just need to be able to run and play. Won’t you please be my new forever home?

Please visit our website: www.barelyusedpets.com. Also, like us on Facebook at Barely Used Pets Rescue (put spaces between the words). Barely Used Pets is located at 844 Jackson Hill Road in Urbana, Ohio. You can give us a call at 937-869-8090. Our regular hours are: Open Sunday 1-4pm, Wednesday and Thursdays 11am-6pm, Fridays 11am-5pm and Saturday 11am-2pm. We are closed on Monday and Tuesday. We can always use donations and they are all of those basic supplies that we use so quickly. We are in real need of lots and lots of paper towels! If you can bring us some we would surely appreciate it. Deno says..”Thanks so much for considering me and helping Barely Used Pets help all of us little ones find our forever homes! OK…so what are you waiting for? Let’s go home!”

Deno is an active 8-month-old who loves adults, kids and other dogs. He’d be a great addition to a cat-less household.
