Champaign County Animal Welfare League

Champaign County Animal Welfare League (CCAWL) wants to introduce Titan, a full-of-life 2-year-old black Labrador Retriever mix. This is a playful guy who still thinks he is a puppy. Titan loves to play with toys and knows how to “sit,” “shake” and “lie down.” He is a good listener and stops immediately when told “no.” He likes to jump on you but he is so smart, it would take just a little training to get him to stop. Titan can catch treats in the air and take them very gently from your hand. He likes people but may be too playful for small children. He also gets along well with other dogs and appears indifferent to cats. Titan would work best with an experienced, dog-savvy individual who can channel his playful energy.

Titan weighs 58.6 pounds and has been fully vetted, including neutering, heart worm testing, and fully vaccinated, including rabies, worming, and treated with heart worm and flea prevention. We are also vaccinating all of our dogs with the H3N2 Flu Vaccine to combat the dog flu that has entered the area. He has been micro-chipped and comes with his 2017 dog license.

You are invited to visit Titan or any of our adoptable pets. We are open every day except Tuesday and Sunday and are also closed the first Saturday of the month for training. CCAWL is located at 3858 State Route 56, Mechanicsburg, OH and our phone number is 937-834-5236. An application is required in order to adopt and this can be found online or in house. Our adoption fee is $150 cash or check.

We appreciate your donations of paper towels, leashes, harnesses and collars. Also, please come by and pick up a volunteer application if you would enjoy being a part of this caring enterprise. We will soon be moving into our new facility and are looking forward to meeting animal-loving people who like to make a difference in the lives of dogs and cats.

As the cool, crisp days of fall begin, people begin to use rat and mouse poison as rodents try to seek shelter from the approaching, cold weather. These poisons are highly toxic to dogs and cats and may be fatal if ingested. If you must use these products, do so with extreme caution and put them in places inaccessible to your pets. Also fall is the time that many people change their engine’s coolant. These coolants are highly-toxic and spills should be cleaned up immediately. Just like with children, a little forethought will go a long way in protecting the health of your pet.

Barely Used Pets

My name is Callie and I am a 10-year-old chocolate lab that came to Barely Used Pets with my younger buddy. My pal got adopted and I need a new home and a forever family. I can be adopted by the regular adoption process and I am also available in the senior to senior program. I am already spayed, up to date on shots, great with kids, but no cats. I just don’t like those sneaky felines…you know how they just don’t do what us dogs tell them to! I am a little roly poly, but hey, who isn’t. If you are looking for a sweet older dog, I am the girl for you! Please open your home and your heart for me. I am a little older, but I have lots and lots of love left to give. Please think about letting me be part of your family.

Please visit our website: www.barelyusedpets.com. Also, like us on Facebook at Barely Used Pets Rescue (put spaces between the words). Barely Used Pets is located at 844 Jackson Hill Road in Urbana, Ohio. You can give us a call at 937-869-8090. Our regular hours are: Open Sunday 1-4pm, Wednesday and Thursdays 11am-6pm, Fridays 11am-5pm and Saturday 11am-2pm. We are closed on Monday and Tuesday. We can always use donations and they are all of those basic supplies that we use so quickly. We are in real need of lots and lots of paper towels! If you can bring us some we would surely appreciate it. Callie says..”Thanks so much for considering me and helping Barely Used Pets help all of us little ones find our forever homes! OK…so what are you waiting for? Let’s go home!”

PAWS Animal Shelter (dogs)

Pongo is a 1-year-old male St. Bernard/ Shepherd mix. Pongo was found wandering with his very bonded sister, Purdy. Pongo is a big boy and is very sweet. He is active and hasn’t grown out of that “puppy stage.” He is very friendly with humans but still a bit leery of the other dogs here at Paws shelter. Please check out his bonded sister, Purdy also,… as they must be adopted together.

Purdy is a 1-year-old Shepherd mix found wandering with her bonded brother, Pongo. Purdy is very friendly and sweet and is an active girl. She loves all humans and is a bit choosy with her Canine friends. She is young and very trainable. Please read about her bonded brother Pongo….. they must be adopted together.

Please contact PAWS Animal Shelter for more information.
