Christiansburg ready for Independence Day Celebration

CHRISTIANSBURG – The village will host its annual Independence Day Celebration on Sunday, July 2, commencing with church services under the shelter house in the community park. Afterwards, all can enjoy a parade as well as a co-ed softball tournament. DJ Johnny Fannin will be spinning classic records in the park and children’s games can be played there in the afternoon.

There will be plenty of food for all. At noon Chuck Lyons will be serving chicken/pork chop dinners, the Masonic Lodge will have pies and home-made ice cream, the CWC will have brats and lemon shake-ups, and the concession stand will have fare such as shredded chicken and BBQ.

The Fire Department will hold its annual Water Ball Tournament on First Street at 1 p.m. At 6 p.m. there will be a pie auction under the shelter house followed by music provided by “Good Vibrations” until the fireworks presentation at dusk.
