A crew puts the finishing touches on the roof of the new 6,000-square-foot Champaign Transit System (CTS) garage behind the Champaign County Community Center at 1512 S. U.S. Route 68 in Urbana. County Commissioner Steve Hess said the project, which is being handled by Howell Buildings Company, appears to be on schedule to be completed by the start of fair in August. Once finished, the 12-bay building will house CTS’ fleet of vehicles, and the CTS office at 308 Miami St. will move to the county building. Once CTS has vacated its current site, the office space and garage will be transferred to the county Sheriff’s Office, which is headquartered in an adjacent office.
