The community is invited to an event on Sunday, June 18 from 1 to 4 p.m. to help Clarence J “Bud” Brown Jr. celebrate his 90th birthday. Brown was previously the U.S. congressman who represented Champaign and surrounding counties, and he also served as acting U.S. Secretary of Commerce during the Reagan administration.
The Open House event will be held at BrownRidge Hall, 220 E. Court St., Urbana.
Service and commitment to community have been a cornerstone in the lives of Bud and Joyce Brown. They have lived their married lives in service to others. From Ohio to Washington, D.C., they have stood together ready to make a difference in the lives of others.
Their resume of involvement will impact communities for generations to come: Boy Scouts, FM radio, Cedar Bog, journalism, Honda of America Manufacturing, the US Capitol building, Rotary, Military Academy appointments, Champaign Family YMCA, Urbana University and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
Those who plan to stop by on June 18 are asked to RSVP by visiting the “Celebrate Bud Brown’s 90th Birthday” Facebook event page, by calling Cate Brinnon (their daughter) at 937-284-7644 or emailing Budbrownis90@gmail.com.
In addition, organizers are collecting cards, notes and pictures to create a memory book. These items may be sent to Cate Brinnon, 3009 Stonehaven Dr., Springfield, OH 45503 or to the email address above.
