West Liberty-Salem’s May Seniors of the Month are Claire Harr and Sam Strickland. Here are their comments.

Claire Harr

PARENTS: Dawn and Chris Harr

School Activities – Basketball and Football Cheerleading, Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership, Drama Club, Link Crew, Key Club, National Honor Society, Spanish club, IPad committee, World Leadership Conference, and teacher aid; Awards – three Scholar Athlete awards, HOBY Academic All-Star Award, President’s Volunteer Service Award,

If I were principal for a day: If I were principal for a day, I would make it ‘Bring Your Dog to School Day.’

Favorite school memory: My favorite school memory is playing senior tag with my classmates.

People who have been an inspiration to me include: People who have been an inspiration to me are my parents, because they are excellent role models and Logan Cole because of his courage, selflessness, and faith.

Lately, I have been reading: Lately, I’ve been reading “Heart of Darkness” by Joseph Conrad for school and for fun, I’ve been reading “Everything, Everything” by Nicola Yoon.

My advice to parents: Don’t worry so much— we’ve got this!

My biggest regret: My biggest regret is betting Lily Yoder fifty dollars that I can be vegan for a month.

Next year I will be: Next year, I will be studying my brains out at Ohio University.

Sam Strickland

PARENTS: Wyatt Strickland and Rebecca Schilling

School Activities and Awards: Football, Track and Field, link crew, student council, class president, white tiger award.

If I were principal for a day: I’d allow the students to have one big food fight.

Favorite school memory: Everyday at lunch with my friends. It’s always different but equally funny.

People who have been an inspiration to me include: Dan McGill, Wyatt Strickland

Because: I really look up to these two men. Both are are good role models and have pushed me to be my best whether it’s football or life in general. They won’t ever know how big of an impact they have truly had on me.

Lately, I have been reading: None of my English assignments.. oops

My advice to parents: Be patient with us. We might not always act like it but we love and appreciate you.

My biggest regret: I really don’t have an regrets. I think my mistakes have molded me into the person I am today.

Next year I will be: In the United States Marine Corps.
