Triad board approves staff contracts, raises

NORTH LEWISBURG – Triad Local Schools board approved contracts and salary increases for a number of administrators at its Thursday meeting.

The board unanimously approved three-year contracts for Curriculum Coordinator Deb Hayslip and Director Special Education Michele Peters. Both administrators also received 1.5 percent salary increases. Other staff who received the 1.5 percent salary increase include the treasurer, superintendent and school principals.

Hayslip’s new salary will be $82,673 and Peters’ new salary will be $64,060, Treasurer Connie Cohn said. Cohn’s new salary will be $82,538; Superintendent Chris Piper’s salary will be $99,920; Elementary Principal Lee Claypool’s salary will be $77,140; Middle School Principal Duane Caudill’s salary will be $79,170; and High School Principal Kyle Huffman’s salary will be $85,260.

Other administrators to receive a 1.5 percent salary increase include the accounts payable/receivables and EMIS coordinator, the maintenance supervisor, the payroll/benefits specialist, the technology coordinator, the technology assistant, the maintenance assistant, the district secretary, the transportation supervisor and the cafeteria supervisor.

The school board also learned more about the planned building improvements over the next five years. If all the items are completed – which include everything from new windows to heating and cooling improvements – it is estimated to cost $2.35 million, Piper said.

In other action, the board:

•Accepted the resignation of Library Aide Deb Alltop, effective the end of the work day on May 24.

•Approved the voluntary transfer of Teacher Michelle Pace from fourth to third grade, for the 2017-18 school year.

•Approved three-year contracts for Cafeteria Supervisor Shirley Weaver, Transportation Supervisor Michael Dowell and Maintenance Supervisor Rick Wilkins.

•Approved the cellphone allowance of $50 per month for the 2017-18 school year for the superintendent, curriculum coordinator, maintenance supervisor, building principals, technology coordinator, cafeteria supervisor, treasurer, technology assistant, transportation supervisor, special education director and athletic director.

•Approved extended days for band director and high school guidance counselor for the 2017-18 school year.

•Approved early graduation for Abigayle Binz.

•Approved the overnight trip for FFA students to attend FFA Camp Muskingum June 26-30. FFA will cover the cost of the trip and the school van will be used for transportation.

•Approved the service agreement with Western Ohio Computer Organization (WOCO) for Internet access service from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2020, at a cost of $21,516.

•Approved the contract with Vinson Consulting for EMIS optimization consultation, at a cost of $12,000.

•Approved enrollment with Sheakley, Inc. for workers compensation and unemployment claims management services, effective Sept. 1, 2017 to Aug. 31, 2018.

•Accepted donations of $100 from Rob and Diana Zimmerman for the elementary; $150 from Scott’s Company for baseball; $250 from Honda Hero for the sign language club; and literacy project books from Tonya Raney’s class at Ohio Hi-Point, for the elementary.
