The Ohio State University Alumni Club of Champaign County is inviting the public to take to the Simon Kenton Trail from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday, June 4, for the nonprofit’s third annual Scholarship Bike Ride.

Those wishing to take a casual, family-friendly ride along the local bike path are asked to meet at the Depot Coffee House, 644 Miami St. in Urbana, the morning of the event.

There is a cost per rider of $20, which includes a T-shirt as well as food and drinks that will be available at various spots along the bike path.

“Each rider is free to ride as much or as little as they see fit,” said Richard Van Buskirk, president of the OSU Alumni Club of Champaign County.

The proceeds, he added, will help future Buckeyes cover a bit of their college expenses.

“We are here to help offset some of the costs for Champaign County students planning to go to OSU,” Van Buskirk said. “Everything we raise goes toward scholarships for students here in the county who are good, quality students who want to get an education.”

Individuals interested in taking part in the bike ride can preregister by calling Chris Harmison at 937-652-3546. Registration will also be accepted the morning of the ride at the Depot Coffee House.
