Students meet children’s author


Urbana North Elementary first grader Brynnleigh Humble beams as children’s book author and illustrator Henry Cole signs one of his books for her on Friday, May 12. Students at the school participated in a drawing contest for a character from his book, “Eddie the Bully,” and classroom-level winners were chosen. Then a winner from those classroom winners was selected. Brynnleigh’s winning drawing was put on shirts for the entire school to wear. She received autographed books from Cole, who provided copies for all the teachers at North Elementary. Cole was in Urbana May 10-12 and met with residents and fans of his books. Classroom-level winners of the North Elementary contest include Jordan Herds, Julianne Hoskins, Avery Smith, Brian Chamberlain, Reagan Carroll, Levi Zachrich, Ainslee Halterman, Larissa Hurley, Ella Tobias, Bryce James, Dominic Purdy, Humble, Elayna Bleim, Avery Smith, Owen Jenkins and Dexyn Yohey.
