Volunteer of the Month

Burr Simpson is a wonderful contributor to the Champaign County community. Burr uses his friendly personality as a greeter at his church. He also enjoys volunteering for the Urbana Tour of Homes where he greets others while viewing various Champaign County homes. Burr previously volunteered at Heartland nursing home, but today you can find him volunteering at Urbana’s airport on Wednesdays, and at Caring Kitchen on Thursdays with some of his peers from Downsize Farm. Burr’s employer at The Spotted Cow Coffeehouse states, “Burr is warm and inviting and he has the ability to make others feel valued. I am grateful to have an associate with a heart like his.” The Volunteer of the Month photo is provided by Jenny White, Community Connections Facilitator for the Champaign County Board of Developmental Disabilities, in order to show how local individuals with disabilities shine through their service in the community.
