Two drivers transported following crash

The drivers of two vehicles were transported to local hospitals following a crash at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday.

According to Sheriff Matt Melvin, a 2002 Jeep Liberty driven by Christopher Eckert, 33, failed to yield, turning left onto Springfield-Urbana Pike off U.S. Route 68. The vehicle collided with a vehicle driven by Eric Wonn, 38. Wonn was driving a Koenig equipment truck trailer. Airbags were deployed for both vehicles.

Melvin said while neither driver had visible injuries, both were transported as a precaution. Eckert was transported to Mercy Memorial Hospital while Wonn was transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center by Moorefield Township EMS.

Melvin said Eckert was cited for failure to yield.
