Planting trees for Arbor Day

Urbana University students and staff, and City of Urbana Community Development Manager Doug Crabill, right, recognize Arbor Day with a tree planting and city proclamation near the Lewis and Jean Moore Center on campus. This is the university’s fifth year of being an Arbor Day Foundation Tree Campus USA, and the 15th year of the city being recognized as a Tree City USA by the same group.

Two trees were planted at Urbana University Friday – one, n memory of alumna Jill Smith, Director of London Prison for Urbana University programs, English instructor and wife of Tom Smith (faculty of 25 years) who recently retired. The second tree planted was in memory of firefighter Martin Frazee, son of Mary Anne Frazee (faculty for 25 years). Martin died at age 33 and was an organ donor.
