A man charged in a fatal crash that occurred last summer pleaded not guilty to the charges Wednesday.

Christopher T. Jablonka, 34, was indicted earlier this month on three counts each of aggravated vehicular assault and vehicular assault, two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and one count of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse or a combination of them.

According to information provided by the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office last year following the crash, deputies responded to the 6000 block of Calland Road on July 7, 2016, to a two-vehicle injury crash.

An initial investigation revealed a 2006 Chevy Silverado driven by Jablonka traveled left of center, colliding with a 1998 Ford F150 driven by Larry Quiram, 60, of Bellefontaine.

Quiram was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jablonka was flown from the scene to Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, and was suspected of operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

A passenger in Jablonka’s vehicle was transported from the scene by an emergency squad and a passenger in Quiram’s was transported from the scene to a hospital.

Jablonka was previously placed on a personal recognizance bond and electronic monitored house arrest. The court ordered Jablonka is only allowed to go to certain locations approved by the court and is prohibited from using a motor vehicle, may not consume alcohol, or be present in a bar or other establishment that serves alcohol by the drink. He is also prohibited from having contact with specific individuals as ordered by the court.

During Wednesday’s hearing, a request was granted allowing Jablonka to reside at an Urbana residence instead of a St. Paris residence.

A scheduling conference hearing is scheduled for May 12.
