WEST LIBERTY – West Liberty-Salem Local Schools is looking to resurface its track.

The school board decided to seek bids for the track resurfacing at its April 18 meeting.

The track was originally installed in 1998, Superintendent Kraig Hissong said. It was resurfaced once in 2008, and had other small repairs. But now it is time to do some work on it again.

Hissong estimated the work would cost about $175,000. If the board decides to approve a bid for the work, it would be done this summer, he said.

In other action, the board:

Hours are based on need; students will be paid at a rate of $8.50 per hour, and work will begin June 5, 2017.

•Approved the three-day early release for seniors, May 31-June 2. The release is contingent on good behavior.

•Approved the 50-minute early release at 2:09 p.m. for all middle school/high school students and 2:05 p.m. for elementary students on the last day, Friday, June 2.
