Motorcyclist in fair condition following crash

A motorcyclist remained hospitalized Friday following a car versus motorcycle crash on Wednesday.

Bruce Vanhoose, 53, of Urbana, was listed in fair condition at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, as of Friday afternoon.

According to Urbana Police Chief Matt Lingrell, the Urbana Police and Fire divisions responded to a crash in the intersection of Miami Street and Sara Street Wednesday at 3:34 p.m.

Vanhoose was traveling westbound on a 2010 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when a Chevrolet Malibu operated by Pete Gonzales, 53, of Urbana, pulled from a stop sign on Sara Street at the intersection with Miami Street and collided with the motorcycle.

Vanhoose suffered serious injury and was treated by Urbana Fire Division personnel before being airlifted via CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation by police.

No injuries reported in rollover crash

In a separate crash, no injuries were reported in a single-vehicle rollover Friday morning.

Champaign County Sheriff Capt. Carl Loney said deputies responded to the 400 block of East Dallas Road for a crash that occurred at 10:03 a.m.

A vehicle driven by Jeffery Salyer, 52, of Urbana, was traveling eastbound went left of center, hit a side ditch and then overturned on the right side of the roadway when the driver attempted to correct the vehicle.

Loney said the vehicle was towed from the scene and the crash is under investigation.
