UJHS students move to national History Day competition

Sixteen students from Urbana Junior High School competed at the Region 7 National History Day competition on Saturday, March 4, at Piqua Junior High.

History Day is a national competition in which students research history topics within a specific theme. This year’s theme is “Taking a Stand in History.”

Eight students will represent Urbana City Schools in the state level competition on Saturday, April 29, at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware. Winners at state level move to national competition in Washington, D.C.

In 2016, two Urbana students competed at the national level.

This year’s state competitors are Lillian Matteson, Jonathan Hildebrand, Zach Pence, Gatlin Ridgewell, Trey Williams, Raegan Hepp, Isabelle Laughbaum and Andrew Pickering.
