A local law firm with a long tradition has come to Urbana. Thompson, Dunlap & Heydinger, Ltd., which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, opened an office at 18 Monument Square on March 7.

“There are fine attorneys in Urbana, and we think we’ll be a great addition to the local legal community,” said Chris Moell, a partner in the firm. With 13 attorneys and four local offices, what sets TDH (as it’s known) apart is the firm’s ability to accommodate nearly any type of client. The firm represents clients in business and corporate law, litigation, wills and trusts, construction law, divorce and child support, personal injury, probate, real estate, adoptions, collections, employment law, health care, and most other areas of the law. “We don’t refer cases out,” said Moell. “We handle our clients’ legal matters ourselves, in our local offices.”

The Urbana office joins the firm’s offices in Bellefontaine, Lakeview and West Liberty. Nearly all of the firm’s attorneys live in local communities, and many serve in local leadership positions. “I see clients at sporting events, at board meetings, at the grocery,” said Terry Stolly, TDH partner. “We don’t just work in the area; we live in the area.”

According to founding partner Tom Heydinger, the firm’s sustained growth is a reflection of its people. “TDH has grown because good attorneys have done good legal work for a very long time,” said Heydinger. TDH has also positioned itself for continuity and growth by bringing younger generations of attorneys into the practice. “It’s exciting to be part of a thriving local practice that’s looking forward,” said Melissa Marino, the firm’s newest attorney. “TDH plans to be part of Urbana and the Champaign County community for a long, long time” said Moell, a Salem Township resident.

The Urbana office of Thompson, Dunlap & Heydinger, Ltd., is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Clients may stop in during those hours, call for an appointment at 937-653-5299 or visit the firm’s website at www.tdhlaw.com.
