Seniors of the Month

0

Zavier Esch and Victoria Secor are the March Seniors of the Month at West Liberty-Salem High School. Here are their comments.

Zavier Esch

PARENTS: Mike & Missy Esch

School Activities and Awards: I participated in three years of running both track and cross country. I am also a member of Calculus Club.

If I were principal for a day: If I were principle for a day I would make it a fun and relaxed day. When the other students walked into school they would be handed doughnuts and for the rest of the day there would be no class just an all day high school recess.

Favorite school memory: There are way too many to choose from. So I would have to say my favorite school memory is the years of running cross country. Just being with the guys on the team and hanging out with them are the majority of my great memories from high school.

People who have been an inspiration to me include: My older brother Zane.

Because: He is just someone I have looked up to most of my life and wanted to be like.

Lately, I have been reading: Hamlet by William Shakespeare.

My advice to parents: Let your children learn on their own at times. Your child will struggle to learn basic life skills if you do every single last thing for them.

My biggest regret: Not applying myself to my full potential freshman year. I thought it was cool to be lazy, and consequently my overall GPA suffered.

Next year I will be: Attending Columbus State Community College to get my general education classes out of the way. Then I plan to transfer to THE Ohio State University to study aerospace engineering.

Victoria Secor

PARENTS: Mark & Gina Secor

School Activities and Awards: Fall & Winter Cheerleading (Captain of Varsity squad 2016-17 school year) FFA & FFA officer (President of Chapter) National Honor Society Student Council Link Crew Ipad Committee

If I were principal for a day: I’d start the day with a 2-hour delay and allow students to leave for a 1 hour lunch break.

Favorite school memory: Football Cheerleading, especially my sophomore year.

People who have been an inspiration to me include: The women in my family.

Because: The women in my family have truly been great role models for they possess the traits that I one day wish to have. By supporting me and believing in me they have made me feel as if I could conquer anything. I owe everything I have to them.

Lately, I have been reading: Hamlet & my math book.

My advice to parents: There is going to come a day when your children will think it’s uncool to hang out with you, but make them… for those will be the memories they will cherish the most.

My biggest regret: Not realizing how truly fast High School goes.

Next year I will be: Attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln majoring in Nursing.
