Champaign County’s jobless rate experienced a slight decrease to 4.1 percent in December, according to information released this week by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

The county had 18,700 employed people and 800 unemployed people in December.

The county’s jobless rate in November was a revised 4.2 percent.

The county’s jobless rate in December 2015 was 4.1 percent, with 19,300 employed people and 800 unemployed people.

Champaign County was one of 24 counties in the state with an unemployment rate of 4.1 percent or lower.

Logan County’s unemployment rate was 4.2 percent in December, with 21,700 employed people and 1,000 unemployed people.

Mercer County had the lowest unemployment rate in the state at 3.1 percent, while Monroe County had the highest at 9.6 percent.

Ohio’s unemployment rate was 4.9 percent in December, unchanged from November. Ohio’s nonagricultural wage and salary employment increased 10,300 over the month, from a revised 5,506,900 in November to 5,517,200 in December.

The number of workers unemployed in Ohio in December was 282,000, up 4,000 from 278,000 in November. The number of unemployed has increased by 9,000 in the past 12 months from 273,000.

The December unemployment rate for Ohio was 0.1 percentage points higher than the December 2015 rate of 4.8 percent.

The U.S. unemployment rate for December was 4.7 percent, 0.1 percentage points higher than in November, and 0.3 percentage points lower than in December 2015.
