ST. PARIS – All five current Graham school board members know Graham because they all are Graham graduates: President Steve Setty, Vice President Ryan Pine, Miranda Uhl, Steve Prince and Mike Ludlow. At the January board meeting, Superintendent Kirk Koennecke shared “throwback” pictures of these graduates and remarked about the pride that comes from school communities when their graduates take leadership positions.
Board members were asked to spend a moment to reflect on their memories of their time as students at Graham. Mike Ludlow said, “It was a great experience, and the successes I had here prepared me for my whole life.” Also a retired administrator, teacher, and coach for many years, Mike joked, “it seems my days at Graham just never end!”
Steve Prince discussed “impactful teachers and administrators” who influenced him. Miranda Uhl commented on “good relationships she formed in school”, and Ryan Pine said, “the people in this district, and the relationships you build upon, make it special.”
The board members were presented with a proclamation, a certificate from the Ohio School Board Association for their service, a card from the Graham Education Association presented by teacher Tracy Merica, and a large poster card signed by Graham Middle School students and staff.
Steve Setty echoed the sentiments of his colleagues. “The relationships. I enjoyed the high school years with some classes that were close to one another. Ryan Pine and I were friends then and now. We graduated with a close group of classmates in 1994.”
The board held its annual organizational meeting, selected officers and set an agenda to continue promoting the work of the district’s strategic plan, Graham2020.
