On Tuesday, Dec. 20, the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office had a special guest, Santa Claus, working with them.

At 5 p.m., Santa Claus traveled with the deputies, delivering presents to over 50 children in the Champaign County area. The community project is called “Wipe out a Blue Christmas.”

The sheriff’s office thanked the following contributors: Mechanicsburg Eagles, CRSI, FOP Lodge 46, Champaign County Deputies Association, Orbis Corporation, Custom Sportswear and Embroidery, White’s Auto Group, Walmart of Urbana, a Triad’s 7th and 8th grade girls basketball team and many citizens who donated toys.

Sheriff Matthew R. Melvin and deputies expressed their hope for a safe and Merry Christmas to residents.
