BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: Teenage boy killed in Woodstock fire

WOODSTOCK – A teenage boy was killed and four others were injured after a mobile home caught fire in the early morning hours on Wednesday.

Champaign County Sheriff’s deputies were on routine patrol at 1:06 a.m. in the area of the village of Woodstock when they discovered the home located at 122 South Main St. engulfed in flames. Deputies exited their patrol vehicle and discovered an adult female and male juvenile coming out of the residence. Both female and juvenile tried going back inside and deputies were able to escort them away from the fire. Deputies were advised that another male juvenile was inside the residence and made entry trying to find the other juvenile. Deputies believed that this subject was in the bathroom and attempted to get the door open, but could not make entry into the bathroom. Deputies exited the burning structure due to the excessive heat and flames.

Champaign County Coroner Dr. Joshua Richards was called to the scene after 2 a.m. The deceased teen has been identified by the sheriff’s office as 16-year-old Jordan Edley.

The female occupant of the home, Nicole Lee age 43, along with her younger son Jevin Edley age 12, were treated for smoke inhalation at Memorial Hospital in Marysville.

Multiple agencies including Northeast Champaign County Fire District, Mechanicsburg Fire and EMS, Allen Township, and Milford Center Fire were called to the scene to fight the fire. The residence is a total loss.

Two Champaign County Sheriff’s deputies, were treated at Mercy Memorial Hospital of Urbana for smoke inhalation and were released. Their identities were not released by the sheriff’s office.

No information regarding the cause of the fire has been released. The fire remains under investigation.
